THREE THINGS THE WORD OF GOD CAN DO TO YOU                Proverbs 30:7-9

“Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me:” (v8)

Every time you hear the word of God it will either make you sad, mad or glad. The word of God does not leave a man the same. (1) The Word of God Can Make You Sad (2 Corinthians 7:9-11) If you hear the truth of the word of God preached and it makes you sad it means that there is something wrong that you have or you are doing that the word of God is convicting you about. That sadness is what the Bible calls godly sorrow and what it does is that it makes you repent of whatever is wrong in your life or in your ways that the Holy Spirit is pointing at. When you have repented you can then move on with God. (2) The Word of God Can Make You Mad (Acts 7:54; 1 Timothy 4:2) When a man hears the word of God and he becomes mad at it that shows that the man has developed a rebellious nature against the word of God. God is bringing something wrong in his life to his attention and instead of him to be sober and repent; he hardens his heart and damns the consequences. If a man continues like that, he will have a head-on collision with God one day. Make sure you don’t develop that attitude to the word of God. (3) The Word of God Can Make You Happy (Jeremiah 13:16) When you hear the word of God and you are happy, it means that you are living in line with the truth of God’s word. As a Christian, what you do is to make sure you continue on that road. However, if occasionally it makes you sad, make necessary adjustment and be happy. What you will become in life eventually will depend on the attitude you are sustaining to the word of God.
