A DENIAL REALITY                                                       Hebrews 9:11-28

And just as it is appointed for men to die once, and after that comes judgment, (v27)

Some people believe that there is no final judgment or that God is too good to let people go to a lost eternity. All these are a denial of reality, and are subterfuges used by the soul in its attempt to soothe our inner fears. I am convinced that the truth of judgment is laid deep in human consciousness and finds support in the iron law of cause and effect in the material world. The apostle Paul talks about those who “suppress the truth’ (Romans 1:18) The human mind is capable of pushing away things it doesn’t want to accept, and though the psychological mechanism of suppression may at times help people through a difficult phase in their lives. It can have very serious repercussions. It is certainly dangerous when it causes us to ignore our eternal welfare. A healthy attitude to one’s death is best gained as a person looks to Jesus as their Saviour and Lord.

Some time ago newspapers reported the case of a man who appeared in court charged with a serious offense and found that his counsel was not there to plead for him. Thankfully, no pardoned sinner will be in that plight. Our counsel appears before the throne of God, and is willing to plead for us. He will bring about an assurance in our hearts that we are forgiven. But only if we have asked for forgiveness.

PRAYER LINE: Lord God, help me not to deny reality. Your Word says there is a judgment to be faced, and I can face that by trusting in You. I do so now. Please forgive me and save me, In Jesus’ Name. Amen (EDWJ)

The Bible is a certainty and a Reality.
