“Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts. The whole earth is full of His glory” (Isa 6:3)

(5) Godly Wisdom Is Full of Mercy and Good Works.

James continues his description of godly wisdom by saying it is “full of mercy and good fruits” (3:17) “Who is wise and understanding among you?” he asked. “Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom” (3:13) If you profess with your mouth a commitment to God’s standard of wisdom and understanding, but then live your life differently, you are displaying foolishness. Believers who are wise with the wisdom from above must display that wisdom in the way they live. Not only will this lend harmony to the body of Christ it will also help draw unbelievers to faith in the Saviour. We should live our lives under the pressure of being the “books” read by the unsaved. Every day we live our lives in a spiritual fishbowl looked into by those who wonder at our manner of existence. We can be beautiful to behold, or we can reflect poorly on our Father. “We were created in Christ Jesus for good works” (Eph 2:10. Read (2 Cor. 9:8; Col 1:10; 2Thes2:16-17; Titus 2:7, 14 Titus 3:1)

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof; for correction for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete (2Tim 3:16-17) And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works (Heb 10:24) (Kenneth M. Durham)

PRAYER LINE: Read Heb 10:23-24 Gracious Lord, let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for You are faithful to promise, Amen.
