REPENT (2) 2 Timothy 2:14-26
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (v15)
“The Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome, but kindly to everyone, an apt teacher, forbearing correcting his opponents with gentleness.” (2:24-25)
God may perhaps grant that they will repent and come to know the truth and escape from the snares of the devil after being captured by Him to do His will.
The Lord wants all to come to repentance. The Lord is not slow concerning His promise, but is forbearing that all should react repentance. Godly grief leads to repentance for Godly grief produces repentance that leads to salvation and brings no regret, but worldly grief produces death. Repentance involves works or trust. Luke, chapter 3 says, John the Baptist said, “to the multitude that came out to be baptized by him,” You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Bear fruits that benefit repentance, and do not begin to say to yourselves, I have been a Presbyterian ( I beg your pardon) – He said, “Do you begin to say to yourselves that I have Abraham as my father? For I tell you, God is able from these stones to raise children to Abraham.” Even now the axe is laid to the roof of the trees, every tree therefore that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire” The multitudes asked Him “What shall we do?” He answered, “He who has two coats, let him share with him who has none.” Go and do likewise (Dr. Robert Schuller)
