THE WONDERFUL END                                               1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.  (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)

“The Christian hope” is that Jesus will one day return to the earth. That hope, however, extends beyond the expectation of His return. It also includes the understanding that when He comes, the Christian dead will return with Him and the Christian living will join them, to be with Him for eternity. Down through the ages people have asked how things are going to end as far as humanity is concerned. Over 2,000 years ago, the prophet Daniel saw a vision of a figure who enquired, “How long will it be before these astonishing things are fulfilled?” (Daniel 12:6) The disciples asked a similar question, “what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?” (Matthew 24:3) And Paul outlined to the Corinthians what will happen in the last times, finishing with these words, “Then the end will come.” (1 Corinthians 15:24) To encourage us to keep the end in view, one writer penned these words: Right on to God’s faithful Words Right onto the coming end; Right on where the windings bend; Right onto the Wonderful End. For the Christian the end will indeed be Wonderful end in a sense, not so much an end as a beginning – for every chapter will be better than the one before. These great truths concerning Jesus are the essential truths of the Christian message and faith. It distresses me to say it, but those who attempt to conceal or block these essential truths are in danger of not holding the line.

PRAYER LINE: Lord Jesus, I see that the end is really the beginning of a new life for those who love You, are committed to You. I am so glad that You have included me among that number. All honour and glory be to Your Name forever. Amen. (EDWJ)

The One who holds the universe together will not let go of you.
