TRUTH IN THE INNER PARTS 2 Corinthians 12:1-14
“Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me.” (v8)
We can take a step to heighten our awareness of God, presence in our lives, break decisively with all known sin. Nothing blunts the awareness of God’s presence in our lives as much as continuing to think or act in ways of which God cannot condone. If we harbor moral wrong then we are treating God as if He were unreal. There was a man who seemed to carry the sense of God’s presence with him everywhere he went. People would often say that to spend a few minutes with him was a spiritual tonic. While visiting him in his home one day I asked him to share with me the secret of his deep spirituality. At first he was reluctant, but a after gentle probing he told me that although he had a daily quiet time, early every Sunday morning he would get alone with God and examine his life in the light of five pointed questions (1) Have I been truthful and honest (2) Have I been impure? (3) Has love been my motive in everything? (5) Have I sought God’ glory – or my own glory? Take the first question. Have I been truthful and honest? How do you and I stand in the light of that searching question today? You see, truth is inviolable. The Early Christians standing before tribunals with their lives in the balance, could have told a lie which would have saved their lives. They refused for they knew that truth is inviolable. They could die but they could not lie. Can you be depended on to tell the truth – no matter the cost?
PRAYER LINE: Father God, make me from this moment as a transparent person with nothing covered nothing I feel the need to conceal from myself or others Help me to be honest in all things. In Jesus’ Name. Amen. (EDWJ)
