LEAD MY PEOPLE AND FOLLOW ME                         John 21:15-23

“He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.” (v7)

Gregg Cochlan’s book, “love Leadership: What the World Needs Now” seeks to chart a new course in leadership called Love Leadership, Cochlan believes that love should not only enhance the way leaders lead, but that leaders should strive to increase their capacity to love as they relate with others. During the process of Christ’s restoration of Peter, Christ reminded him of the importance of loving Him to doing His work. Three times the Lord asked Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love Me more than these?” Jesus knew that Peter loved Him, but He had to ask him the same question three times to emphasis the importance of loving Christ to serving Him. Each time Peter answered that  he loved Him, Jesus told him: Feed my sheep.” After settling the issue of love, Christ said to Peter, “Follow Me” (v19) True love rooted in Christ is the basis for successful leadership, and Christian leaders who want to be successful must follow Christ consistently to increase their capacity to love those they lead. Leadership is tough. Christian leadership inclusive, but those whose passion to lead is rooted in Christ wants them to go. Love will cause a leader to make sacrifices even when it is not convenient, love will motivate you to have selfless concern for others. Are you a parent? Lead your children to love to follow Christ as you also follow Him closely. Are you a pastor, follow Christ daily and lead your members with the love of Christ. As a Christian, lead others to Christ through love.

PRAYER LINE: My Lord Jesus, thank You for loving me unconditionally. Please increase my love for You on daily basis. (NBC)
