Deuteronomy 30:15-20

“I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; (v19)

Choices are the blocks upon which life is built. We will always have to make choices and every choice we make comes with consequences. While the consequences of some choices can have immediate and momentary, other choices can have eternal consequences, Moses was virtually telling the Israelites that life is full of choices.

The relationship between God and the Israelites had constantly gone through the ups – and down cycle of highs and lows. Moses reminded Israel of all God had done for them – deliverance, provision and all. He reminded them of God’s teachings and rules which thy need to follow throughout their lives. Now on the verge of crossing to the Promised Land, he presented them with two options – life and death. Choosing to do good comes with life while choosing evil comes with death.

It is presented to everyone alive to choose between life and death, and the choice always been better by far. Jesus says, eternal life is knowing the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom He has sent (John 17:3) “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on him” (John 3:36) To have life is to choose Jesus Christ, to choose anything else is to choose death. Have you made a choice of Jesus? Now is the time. Tomorrow may be too late.

PRAYER LINE: O Lord, help me to always make choices that please You.
