That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is Spirit (V6) There are two families on earth. Every human being has fallen and has a sinful nature-one family consists of those who have been born again and have also a new nature from God. The difference is vast. Many people, ignorant of what it means to be born again, think that the old nature with a little education and training may become good and holy. Others think that conversion, or being born again, is a change of the sinful nature in Scripture called “the flesh” into a holy, pure nature. We are also deceived if we think that regeneration can result from the application of a little water or that regeneration is a remodeling or purifying of the old nature. Nowhere in the Bible is it said that the flesh” will be changed. The belief that it has changed results on misery when the old fallen with its corrupt desires reasserts itself. Regeneration is a “new creation” (2 Cor.5:17), and it occurs when one is born of the Spirit and given a new nature, the nature of Christ Jesus. Everyone that believes on Him is born of God, has a new sinless nature and has eternal life (1Jn 3:9:5,1,13) But you find so much evil in your old nature! “the Spirit itself makes intercession (for us) with groaning which cannot be uttered (Rom 8:26) and Christ, who is “at the right hand of God… also intercedes for us” (Rom 8:34) Hence we are assured that “sin shall not have dominion” (Rom 6:14) over us.
