“When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment” (V27)

Jairus heart must have been pounding with anxiety as he walked briskly along. Every moment mattered. If Jesus didn’t arrive in time, his daughter would die. He was facing a crisis. Then the Lord was unexpectedly delayed. As Jairus escorted Jesus along the busy streets, they were surrounded by more and more people. In the midst of this crowd, Jesus stopped and asked, “who touched me? Imagine what Jairus must have been going through! Not only had Jesus been slowed down by the crowds but now He decided to stop to see who had touched Him. Now they were at a standstill; they weren’t moving at all.

“And his disciples said to him, thou seeth the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, who touched me? (V 31) Jesus listened carefully to the woman when she had finished her lengthy story, He simply replied, “Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague” (Mk 5:34)

Although Jairus was consumed with concern for his daughter, it is important to note that he did not do anything to prevent the woman with the issue of blood from receiving what she had come for. He did nothing to stand in the way of her miracle. And because of this, the miracle he sought was just around the corner.
