“Verily I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God” (Jn 3:3) God who is in control of His creation had a master plan to bring man back to Him. This was by sending His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to serve as the righteous One to take the place of sinful man.

Of course, spiritual death does eventually lead to physical death. No wonder man who was intended  to continue living eternally as long as he was in good relationship with God started declining in longevity from the age of 969 years of Methuselah (Gen 5:27) Noah 950 years (Gen 7:8, 9:28) after Sodom and Gomorrah down to 120 years in the days of Moses to 70 or 80 years later (Ps 90:10) in the days of King    David Reconciliation with God is the condition that man needs to satisfy to enjoy his purpose in life, to fulfill his destiny and please his creator. A life that is lived in the absence of God would be meaningless, futile and of no good reward. Therefore Jesus spoke to the religions leader of the Jews, Nicodemus, who sought Him by night for fear of what his fellow Jews would say (Jn 3:3) Being born again entails a transformation from Adamic sin to a heart of flesh that now conforms to the will of God. It is “spiritual surgery” carried out by the spirit of God, which enables one who is hostile to God to begin to walk in good relationship with God (Eze.36:27) (Tunde Cole Onitiri)
